Sometimes bloggers get confused over the difference between social media connect buttons and social media share buttons. Here are the differences and some important tips in using them.
Social Media Connect Buttons
Explained: These are the buttons that your readers can click on to FOLLOW you, to connect with you. These buttons can be in your header area, the sidebar and even the footer area.
Tip: Before adding these buttons think first. Are you active on each platform that you are adding? For example, if someone clicks on your Twitter button, will they find your last tweet was 4 months ago? If so, most likely they won’t want to follow an inactive account. Don’t just add them just because they are pretty.
Social Media Share Buttons
Explained: These are the buttons that your readers can click on to SHARE your content, your posts. They are almost always located at the end of your posts.
Tip: It’s the opposite here, always add these buttons. It doesn’t matter if you are on Facebook or not, if someone wants to share your post with their FB community, make it easy for them.
