Again, WHAT THE? Brute Force Attack? Sounds like we are being invaded by gigantic scary aliens (like the ones below) and we need to hide underground!!!! Although, if these were the aliens, I’d just tickle them, take them out for a nice dinner, then Starbucks.. we’d be besties for sure! (Just between you and me, a few of them look like they could use a strong coffee right about now — geez, simmer down little red dude!)
Ok, back to the attack… So, what is a Brute Force Attack? It’s the way nasty hackers break into a website, a network or a computer system. A successful brute force attack can give these hackers access to your website’s admin area. They can install backdoors, malware, steal user information, and delete everything on your site. Absolutely NOT GOOD!
So, let’s learn how to protect ourselves from these nasty hackers. WPBeginner.com wrote an awesome tutorial about this very thing: How to Protect Your WordPress Site from Brute Force Attacks (Step by Step) which lists 8 steps to take to protect your WordPress website or blog.
I myself have already had some of these in place, but some I have not. On my way to fix that! If you need help with some of these or have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If you have aliens in your backyard, I can’t help with that, sorry! lol
